Casa Maredda

What does “Casa Maredda” mean?

“A maredda” is a Corsican word for a specific plant from our island, and more generally from the Mediterranean: «l’ immortelle».
Its scientific name is the helichrysum (helichrysum italicum), whose
Greek etymology literally means “flower of the sun”, because of its shape, its yellow color and its “warm” smell.
Corsican immortelle has many virtues and its essential oil enjoys world renown in the fields of cosmetics and aromatherapy.
It is therefore our passion for our island and its flora that led us to baptize this house Casa Maredda, home of the immortal. There, you know everything 🙂
